WHO WE ARE

Experience:

As the owner of Kensington Fine Art Services, Jennifer McGuire has amassed 25 years of experience as an art appraiser, independent art researcher and writer, and importer of pop culture collectibles and ephemera from the U.K.  Kensington Fine Art Services has appraised personal property for individuals for insurance, estate, tax and resale purposes.   Kensington Fine Art Services has appraised fine art (paintings, prints and sculpture), furniture, silver, glass, ceramics, Oriental carpets, antiques and collectibles.  Some of the items appraised include: an important private collection of contemporary art glass by Jon Kuhn, Tom Patti and others;  the portrait of Ethel Waters by Luigi Lucioni, which won first prize at the 1939 Carnegie International Exhibition ; a donation of sculpture from the National Peace Institute Foundation in Washington, DC by John Safer, an award-winning medalist and sculptor; and a collection of paintings by Elliott Daingerfield (American, 1859-1932) for the Turchin Center For the Visual Arts at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina.


Kensington Fine Art Services has a large network of experts in all types of fine art, decorative art, antiques and collectibles, who serve as consultants on special projects and in specialized areas of collecting.   Ms. McGuire is also a member of the exhibition staff at Roland Auction Galleries in New York City.

Qualifications:

Ms. McGuire’s Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP)* qualification is valid with the Appraisers Association of America until 2018.


Education:

Jennifer McGuire trained as an artist, with June Cutler, in Queens, New York, and has extensive knowledge of fine art theory, art markets and art history. She received her Certificate in Appraisal Studies in Fine and Decorative Arts from New York University. She continues to enhance her connoisseurship and update her appraisal skills, through educational lectures and seminars at the Appraisers Association of America, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and other museums and galleries, and to keep abreast of IRS regulations and industry standards through courses at the Appraisers Association of America.
